Villa Khursani's Ambiance
An art collection, a few antiques, and a lot of quirky stuff
Your host at Villa Khursani lived in Thailand for twenty-one years, with a modest second home in Siem Reap for much of that time. Before he semi-retired, his company had operations in ten countries, which required him to travel extensively.
"Shopping is my religion," he says. so the Villa is furnished with some of his extensive, eclectic collection of furniture, paintings, sculpture, objects d'art, curiosities and cookware. Virtually all of this was carried by hand in seven arduous trips from Bangkok across the Aranyaprathet/Poipet border. He is not able to explain his collection of bird cages from China, Hong Kong and Vietnam since he has no birds. He also has what may be the largest collection of Vietnamese water puppets outside of Vietnam, all retired from Hanoi's Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.
The Villa is a fresh, new palate for him to exercise his creativity. It is a work in progress that will take some time, but he is cautious about interfering with hospitality offered to the Villa's guests.
